Carlsbad CA's HOC - Believe In Something
The HOC is proof that no matter what anyone else thinks or how people want to judge you, you can make a difference in the world. No idea is too crazy and no daily activity is too simple to be twisted in a way that it benefits those less fortunate. Whatever you do, Believe In Something.
We go through dormant moments around here and we apologize about that!
We’d like to firstly welcome all of our new supporters, including the band 3-D Arcade:

Thanks for the love and ROCK ON, guys.
Our buds in Switchfoot won a Grammy for Hello Hurricane, RunnerRunner released their new CD, and Angels and Airwaves totally blew up the Santa Barbara Film Festival with LOVE. These guys know how to share the love and they’ve always got our backs. It’s great to see them achieving their goals too and there is nothing better than knowing it’s because they believed in something.
Like us. ;)
We still have our Angels and Airwaves and Runner Runner collab shirts available in our store (as well as our rubber bracelets too!), please hit up our website and get one or two or a dozen if you haven’t yet; those shirts go to the respective charities of Open Your Heart and the Childrens’ Hospital of Orange County. We just recently got a Thank-You letter from OYH, be sure to stop on over and check it out to learn more about this awesome cause and how our shirts have helped out.
Voting for the 2011 Animal Rescue Site Challenge is STILL underway, and if you know our sweet bro ATOM Willard, you know he’s a huge champion of the French Bulldog Rescue Network out of Massachusetts. They’re ranking number 5 right now out of the state for this challenge, down from #3 from last week but with your daily vote we can easily kick them back up to the top. When asked for the shelter name, pop in “French Bulldog Rescue Network” and select MA under state. There’s no sign-up needed and you can cast one vote per day. Please help out!
We’ve moved our Facebook page, also! We’re now under Believe In Something over there, too, so please be sure to like it, share your BiS pictures with us, and get others involved.
As for getting others involved, we need your help here on Tumblr too! We’re going to start pushing our Tumblr Tuesday rec requests, and there’s nothing better than seeing our blog up at the top of that page for non-profits. It really makes us smile to know that our followers are doing what they can to get us up and out there!
Thank you all so much for sticking it out with us through our quiet moments and for surprising us with your generosity and resources. You are all incredible and we’re so happy you’ve chosen to Believe in us and in what we do.
Don’t stop! - the Hurricane is gathering speed! Believe in Something!
Bracelet action shot! Our buddy Chad Butler from Switchfoot at their recent show in LA at The Greek!
Hello, Hurricane!
Steff went out to the US Open of Surfing last week to spend her birthday with her friends in Switchfoot and to watch some of the amazing competition. Here she is with Jerome Fontamillas, rockin’ the “Believe In Something” bracelets.
Switchfoot has been a strong, incredibly driving force behind the message of the Olympics, themselves, and we are unbelievably grateful to have them backing us, and giving us the support we need to be and do what we can for others. They are truly amazing and we thank and love them.
“John M. Perkins is an American civil rights leader. Born in Mississippi to a sharecropper, he grew up in the dire poverty and bitter racism of the time. At the age of 17 his older brother was murdered at the hands of a town marshall, so he fled the state vowing never to return. Yet in 1960 Dr. Perkins and his wife, Vera Mae Perkins, felt compelled to go back to help the poor in rural Mississippi. Since then, Dr. Perkins has written numerous books, lectured across the world and has devoted his life to community development and racial reconciliation throughout the world. Dr. Perkins turns 80 on June 16th….this video is a tribute to his compassionate commitment to love the oppressed and the oppressor. His life is living proof that love does conquer all, including violence and hatred. Love is the final fight.” —Jon Foreman, Switchfoot
Thanks and hello to all of our new followers this week!
Chad Butler from Switchfoot - rocking our wristband. All the guys are wearing them!!
It was an amazing day at the Switchfoot Bro-Am yesterday, thanks to everyone who came out for fun, sun, and support. It truly means a lot.
Hey hey!
In Encinitas this weekend? No? Well make a trip!
Come visit our booth at the 6th annual Switchfoot BroAm, hosted by Hurley and our friends with Switchfoot! The party starts early at 7am with the surf contest and the concerts start at 11am. This entire event goes to benefit the San Diego and Oceanside chapters of Stand Up For Kids, which is another fantastic charity group! This event is FREE and features performances by OK Go! and Timmy Curran, The Almost, and more!
There will be a pre-event auction the night before, and an after-party down in Solana Beach at the Belly Up! For more information on all of these events visit the Switchfoot BroAm site!
Come out and say hi! We’ll be there with bracelets and stickers, and tons of information on our own community efforts! We look forward to seeing you there!
