Carlsbad CA's HOC - Believe In Something
The HOC is proof that no matter what anyone else thinks or how people want to judge you, you can make a difference in the world. No idea is too crazy and no daily activity is too simple to be twisted in a way that it benefits those less fortunate. Whatever you do, Believe In Something.
We go through dormant moments around here and we apologize about that!
We’d like to firstly welcome all of our new supporters, including the band 3-D Arcade:

Thanks for the love and ROCK ON, guys.
Our buds in Switchfoot won a Grammy for Hello Hurricane, RunnerRunner released their new CD, and Angels and Airwaves totally blew up the Santa Barbara Film Festival with LOVE. These guys know how to share the love and they’ve always got our backs. It’s great to see them achieving their goals too and there is nothing better than knowing it’s because they believed in something.
Like us. ;)
We still have our Angels and Airwaves and Runner Runner collab shirts available in our store (as well as our rubber bracelets too!), please hit up our website and get one or two or a dozen if you haven’t yet; those shirts go to the respective charities of Open Your Heart and the Childrens’ Hospital of Orange County. We just recently got a Thank-You letter from OYH, be sure to stop on over and check it out to learn more about this awesome cause and how our shirts have helped out.
Voting for the 2011 Animal Rescue Site Challenge is STILL underway, and if you know our sweet bro ATOM Willard, you know he’s a huge champion of the French Bulldog Rescue Network out of Massachusetts. They’re ranking number 5 right now out of the state for this challenge, down from #3 from last week but with your daily vote we can easily kick them back up to the top. When asked for the shelter name, pop in “French Bulldog Rescue Network” and select MA under state. There’s no sign-up needed and you can cast one vote per day. Please help out!
We’ve moved our Facebook page, also! We’re now under Believe In Something over there, too, so please be sure to like it, share your BiS pictures with us, and get others involved.
As for getting others involved, we need your help here on Tumblr too! We’re going to start pushing our Tumblr Tuesday rec requests, and there’s nothing better than seeing our blog up at the top of that page for non-profits. It really makes us smile to know that our followers are doing what they can to get us up and out there!
Thank you all so much for sticking it out with us through our quiet moments and for surprising us with your generosity and resources. You are all incredible and we’re so happy you’ve chosen to Believe in us and in what we do.
Don’t stop! - the Hurricane is gathering speed! Believe in Something!
Steff looking lovely as always! Nice ‘stache!
Photos from our HOC/2600 Strange Ave. Mustache Ride-Autumn Games are up on our Facebook! Check them out now! If you participated and see yourself or anyone you know in some of these photos, as always, TAG TAG TAG!!!
And more news on our limited edition run of HOC t-shirts with Angels and Airwaves: presale for these shirts will begin on Monday, 11/29. And they. Look. AWESOME. You’ll really want to jump on these…
Keep an eye out on Loserkids.com next week for these radtastic shirts!
We had a great final round, it was pretty intense, but by the end of the night, the big winner was really the HOC.
It’s really amazing when people come together for events like these, and we hope that we can keep doing more in the future—or even better, spark it up in those involved or those who were even just curious to know what in the world was going on here, to go out and make a difference in their own day-to-day lives. Thanks to everyone who comes out to say hi, play, donate, ask questions, and shares the good vibes. And thanks to Landmark Events and Quality Social!
Its never work when you love what you do! Whatever you do, believe in something! Thanks for supporting us. It means everything.
To see the rest of the album, head on over to Facebook. While you’re there, give our page a like, and share it with everyone on your feed. Help us get the word out about helping others and having a kickin’ time!
Jacob Kennedy needs your help!
He’s gonna be swimming across the Long Island Sound this weekend as part of his fundraising for the St. Vincent’s Foundation. And he needs donations!!
Jacob’s brother David with the band Angels and Airwaves has been keeping us posted both on Modlife and Facebook about the event and what can be done to help, and we’re nearing the final days. There are so many people on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter that can help out with just a few bucks that we might even surpass the amount Jacob raised with his swim last year!
If you’ve got a few dollars to spare, please head on over to http://give.stvincents.org/jacobkennedy2010. Even if you don’t, please reblog this, retweet this, and share it on facebook (you can get to it by hitting up our homepage and sharing the link). You can help Jacob make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. We all can. :)
As always, thanks.
The HOC.
Back in January this year, the HOC got together with Lumberjack Tavern and Angels & Airwaves to host the “Hurricane Happy Hour”
Coats, jackets, and blankets were exchanged for raffle tickets for prizes to benefit the San Diego Food Bank, and all the tips our awesome bartenders made went to help our organization.
And man, what awesome bartenders we had!
You can see the full photoset here, and if you haven’t yet, add us on Facebook so you can be up-to-date on more awesome events!
