The HOC is proof that no matter what anyone else thinks or how people want to judge you, you can make a difference in the world. No idea is too crazy and no daily activity is too simple to be twisted in a way that it benefits those less fortunate. Whatever you do, Believe In Something.

Every 16 minutes someone dies by suicide in this country

That is 33,000 people a year, over 1 million world-wide.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk will benefit the AFSC (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention). A big part of funding goes to increasing national awareness for depression and suicide.

If any of you are in the San Diego area Oct 16, please consider attending this event.

From the Donor Drive page:
In San Diego, we will be joining with thousands of people nationwide to walk in AFSP’s Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

We dedicate our team to Michael de Sosa who left us last Christmas after succumbing to the demons of his depression. We hope that with all of Michael’s friends that were on running teams, we can overwhelm this walk. I am going to get T-shirts made so I will get back to you on that.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 33,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP’s mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
